This Saturday, 18th July, the 40th Snowdon Race takes place in Llanberis.
This yearly sporting event is proving to be bigger than ever as the 40th anniversary is celebrated with a week of supporting activities.
The Snowdon Race committee, who ensure the success of the event every year, explain further:
“The main “International Snowdon Race”, now it’s 40th year, is considered as one of the greatest in the world of mountain running, and attracts some of the best racers in Europe. For the 40 years its been organized by the local community and all voluntary members of the organization committee. That’s dedication for you.
So we as committee decided to test a new concept on the 40th anniversary in 2015, ‘Snowdon Twilight’ in which will bring extra income to us as a voluntary community company, as we are organizing a weeks full of activities July 11 – 19th. It will especially raise the “economic impact” to Llanberis and the area.
A week of activities in Llanberis, bringing the past carnival elements back into the village on Snowdon Race build up week and a few extras.”
We’d like to take this opportunity to welcome all of the international visitors who will be visiting the wonderful Llanberis as part of this event.
For those who are visiting us on Saturday or hope to pass through the village please be aware that there will be intermittent road closures throughout the day as competitors leave and return to the village. Please leave plenty of time for your journeys, and enjoy the day!
