Retail Outlet & FreeTheatre To Stay Open Until Christmas

    30th October 2011

Although trains have finished running for this year the Station Shop at Llanberis and the theatre, with a 13 minute free presentaion, will be open for the 2011 winter season - Saturday to Wednesday - until the 21st December. A new area has been created in the shop for customers to enjoy hot drinks and a cake or a glass of sherry and a festive mince pie. Relevant themes have been used to create areas within the shop where similar products can be found together to the site. The ‘Sheep Pen’ and ‘Dragons Den’ areas have a large range of sheep and dragons of every shape, size and texture with everything from doorstops and pen tops to mugs and tea towels – not forgetting some of the cuddliest, softest toys around. The sheep and dragon theme continues into our range of Celtic jewellery with irresistibly cute pendants and earings, although traditional Celtic designs make up the majority of the collection and are also reflected throughout our Pewter gift range. Alongside the traditional there is a stunning range of contemporary jewellery from Clogau Gold. This is produced from some of the last of the Welsh Gold which is one of the rarest golds in the world. The leisure wear and fabrics area now includes a new range of bright cotton T shirts, and casual clothing from a range by ‘Lazy Jacks’. Also a beautiful range from Welsh ‘Tweedmills’ of blankets and throws. Our original oak dresser is now overflowing with jams, mustards and pickles, with cakes and bakes from Popty Cae Groes – the Bara Brith is one of the best we have ever tasted. To go along with this we have our ‘Chocolate Barrow’ which is full of tempting chocolate treats such as chocolate trains, sheep and dragons or even a chocolate lollipop – perfect for finishing off your gift shopping or for taking home as a special gift or ‘thank you’ for someone. Also to tantalise your tastebuds we have beers brewed by Conwy, Great Orme and Purple Moose Breweries, Penderhyn Welsh whisky and Welsh punch and cordials. Come and browse in our new ‘Book Corner’ which has beautifully illustrated volumes covering everything from railways – including a new Snowdon Mountain Railway hardback by Peter Johnson, well respected author of many definitive railway publications - to the majesty of the surrounding Snowdonia Mountains. Amongst the range of smaller books there is a variety of topics to keep you interested and answer your questions, whether they are on local history, language and traditions or Welsh recipes. You can find something for the younger reader with stories of trains, sheepdogs or Merlin to capture their imagination. For the children – or just those of us in our second childhood - large models of mainline steam trains, tractors and other vehicles are an ideal gift. Our ‘Penny Press’ machine offers you the only opportunity to press your own penny into a badge with any one of four designs unique to Snowdon Mountain Railway and this is the only place you will be able to buy the Certificate to say that you made it to the top of Snowdon – the highest peak in England and Wales. Amongst our other unique items there are lazer cut paperweights, T shirts and hats, coasters made from ancient Welsh slate, leather and stationery items and a range of resin model Snowdon Mountain Railway trains and carriages. The audio visual presentation in our 72 seater theatre gives a taste of the train journey to the summit of Snowdon. Back to Recent News
