    Paralympic Torch at the Summit

    22nd August 2012

Snowdon Mountain Railway was proud to be able to play a small part in the lighting of the Paralympic Flame ceremony today. Lord Sebastian Coe walked to the summit of Snowdon with the scouts, and other members of the public, and the Olympic entourage to make fire, by striking stone with flint, to light the torch. Although some media crews braved the weather and walked with the party others took the easy way and were taken up on the first staff train of the day. Before and after the ceremony Lord Coe was able to spend time with surprised members of the public and posed for photos, and signed autographs until, due to a very tight schedule, he returned down the mountain by train to be met by more requests at Llanberis. Thank you to all concerned for making it another memorable day at Snowdon Mountain Railway. Good luck to all the Paralympians in all their endeavours. Back to Recent News
