    Litter Picking on Snowdon

    04th October 2011

Snowdonia Society in association with Snowdon Mountain Railway are organising the 2nd Annual Litter Pick to be held this Friday, October 7th. Following the success of last year, that saw almost over a hundred bin bags of litter cleared off the mountain, the charity are hoping to go one better by aiming to tackle the most popular routes on the mountain – The Miner’s Track and Llanberis Path. The Snowdonia Society aims to educate people about the problem of litter in the mountains and encourage all walkers to respect their natural environment, as well as helping to improve it. “The mountains of Snowdonia see hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and many drop litter carelessly as they walk. We want to spread the message to walkers that they should take their litter home as rubbish poses a threat to people and wildlife and is totally unnecessary. Visitors come to our National Park because it is wild and beautiful, and we should endeavour to keep it that way,” says Jenny Whitmore, Conservation Snowdonia Project Officer. If you would like to get involved in keeping Snowdon tidy this Friday or to find out more please contact jenny@snowdonia-society.org.uk or call 01286 685498. Back to Recent News
