    Earliest Ever Summit Opening

    30th March 2012

In 116 years of operation Snowdon Mountain Railway has never been able to open the summit as early as this year. Due to the favourable weather on the mountain over the last few months, routine trackwork has been completed ahead of schedule and therefore access to the summit building was possible much earlier than usual. It has been an exciting and challenging two weeks for everyone as it became apparent that, if the weather stayed so unseasonably warm, the re-commissioning of the building could be finished in time to have the earliest ever train travel to the summit. We made it. Passengers will now be able to enjoy the journey to the top for the rest of the season – weather permitting, as always. Back to Recent News
